5 Seconds of Summer stunned Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut with their Everyone’s a Star! Tour. The band that released hits like “She Looks So Perfect” and “Youngblood” took the stage on May 29. Following The 5 Second of Summer Show Tour in 2023, this is their most creative and over-the-top tour yet.
When walking through the arena, fans were wearing the bands old T-shirts and star themed outfits. There truly is nothing like seeing a fanbase come together to support their favorite artists. The bands creativity is reflected through their fanbase. Stars and alternative clothing have always been a staple in the 5SOS fandom.
The show opened with the electric energy of “NOT OK” and “No. 1 Obsession” You could feel the crowd’s excitement from the floor to the last row. Their new tracks like “Telephone Busy” and “Boyband” easily kept the energy up all night.
The band created a fake persona for this tour following the world-famous boyband and their journey as a band. During the era titled “The breakup,” each band member got a moment in the spotlight performing one song from their solo projects. Luke Hemmings’ “Starting Line,” Calum Hood’s “Don’t Forget You Love me,” Ashton Irwin’s “Have You Found What You’re Looking For,” and Michael Clifford’s “enough” brought a new and memorable moment to the night. This showed each member’s individuality when it comes to their music. It is no doubt that each member is just as talented as the next.
Something new that 5SOS is doing is fan participation. There are two parts during the tour where a fan is randomly selected to present an award to the band, titled “Boyband of the Year.” The fan got to go on stage and meet the band. This is a pivotal moment for the story of the concert. They also integrated a fan voted surprise song. This helps give the same excitement of a normal surprise song but gives the fans a say in what songs they want their favorite band to sing.
During their final act of the night, they reminisced on their history by performing songs like “Amnesia,” “English Love Affair,” and “Jet Black Heart.” By honoring these songs and eras of their music, this helps connect their wind range of fans. Whether that be new fans of their new albums or fans who have been around since the beginning in 2011.
The band has undeniable chemistry on stage. Each member brings a playful and brother-like energy to every stage they play on. The jokes and bits they perform on stage are truly hilarious and come naturally. It is always apparent they are lifelong
friends.
