Hail the Sun is set to hit District Music Theatre on April 18, bringing a night built on energy, emotion and the kind of musical honesty that keeps fans coming back.
Coming all the way from Chico California, they rose to fame with their first album from 2010 POW, right in the kisser! And became famous for their profound and passionate lyrics and post-hardcore signature sound.
They’ll be joined by rising acts Mella who just released their first album “Or so I’ve been told.., Makari, and Foxy Shazam, rounding out a lineup that blends fresh talent with intensity.
The show follows the release of cut.turn.fade.back, an album that pushes the band into newer, modern textures while holding onto the post‑hardcore sound that defines them.
Lead vocalist and drummer Donovan Melero described his creative process as something that comes straight from whatever moves him most in the moment.
“Whatever is currently bubbling inside of me is what is usually the most inspirational,” Melero said. “If a world event, or person, or movie moves me, then I try to immediately take advantage of that shift in energy and move on it.”
That rawness is part of why fans across ages continue discovering the band. Almost 20 years and their fan base continues to grow, along with their loyal fan base “We are just grateful they keep discovering us and supports us,” he said.
Melero also shouted out the new wave of artists shaping the scene, noting, “Julia Wolf would be great — I’m a big fan of her music.”For anyone looking for a night of expression, community and the kind of performance that hits deeper than the volume alone, a crowd letting all that goes on around us.
Hail the Sun’s Norwalk stop promises exactly that. Melero left fans with one last message: “Do what makes you happy despite what your closest friends or family think. And grades aren’t everything. Life experiences are more important in my opinion.”
