On September 8, student-run radio station WQAQ and Quinnipiac’s Student Programming Board announced that the indie pop trio would be headlining the annual fall concert on September 14. This marks the third year in a row that an indie band was chosen for Fall Fest, following Peach Tree Rascals and The 502’s in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The San Diego-based trio consists of Dawson Daugherty (vocals), Cole Clisby (guitar) and Luke Fabry (bass), who met while attending high school together in the North County area. The band formed in 2015, once they settled on the name “Almost Monday” after “The Mondays” was already taken.
Their first single, “Broken People”, dropped in April 2019 and quickly rose to No. 27 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay charts. The group continued to release singles leading up to their debut EP, “Don’t Say You’re Ordinary,” in October 2020 through Hollywood Records. Listening to this EP takes me back to late summer night drives with my friends with the windows down. The warm and feel-good vibes of Almost Monday’s discography are perfect for the end of summer to fall transition that Fall Fest lands on this year.
From 2021 to 2023, Almost Monday continued gaining traction with consistent single releases, opening for The Driver Era for their North and South American tours and a headline international tour with sold-out shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn and more. On top of that, the indie trio has performed at major music festivals including Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Outside Lands Festival.
Keeping the good vibes rolling in the summer of 2024, Almost Monday joined AJR on their tour in support of their 2023 album “The Maybe Man.” They earned praise across the board from critics, specifically citing their lively and infectious stage presence. With that being said, I’m confident that Almost Monday will get students on their feet and dancing on Quinnipiac’s front lawn!
More recently, Almost Monday released their debut album “Dive” in September 2024, while the deluxe edition dropped in January 2025. The band has since concluded The Dive Tour in support of the album and is now planning on supporting The Band Camino on their NeverAlways Tour starting this October. From surf-shop gigs to sold-out shows across the globe, Almost Monday has cemented itself as the California indie pop band to watch out for.
If you missed The Dive Tour earlier this year, you’re in luck! You will get the chance to see the indie rock sensation live on Quinnipiac’s quad for FREE on September 14. During Fall Fest, you will be able to partake in plenty of activities, including games, crafts, inflatables, food trucks and so much more.
