Quavo has been chosen to take NLE Choppa’s place at Wake the Giant following Choppa announcing he was stepping down from headlining this year’s spring concert on April 11 2025.
Born in Athens, Georgia in 1992, the rapper, singer-songwriter and producer has been releasing music since 2011. His career began when he formed the rap trio Migos with his nephew Takeoff and mutual friend Offset.
Quavo & Migos started to gain traction in 2013 when Drake remixed their single “Versace”, landing them a spot on the Billboard Top 100. Outside of Migos, Quavo was featured on several top charting songs including “Congratulations” by Post Malone, “I’m the One” by Justin Bieber, “Portland” by Drake and more.
Continuing a string of collaborations, Quavo and Travis Scott released “Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho” under the duo name Huncho Jack in 2017. Following Migos’ quiet disbandment in 2022, Quavo and Takeoff released “Only Built for Infinity Links” under superduo Unc & Phew.
Outside of music, Quavo has also dabbled in acting, making guest appearances on several television and web series including Donald Glover’s “Atlanta”. He also is known for advocating about gun violence prevention, having started the Spark Giants initiative. This initiative awarded ten organizations around Atlanta $10,000 to spread awareness and minimize gun violence.
Given Quavo’s impressive discography and collaborations with A-list artists, he is sure to rock the M&T Bank Arena and get students singing along. Older students will be familiar with some of his songs, as there may be some overlap between his set and fellow Migos member Offset’s performance from 2023.
Before visiting Hamden, Quavo will perform in Albany, NY on April 25. Afterward, he is set to perform alongside Lil Wayne in Birmingham, AL. Quavo is set to perform at M&T Bank Arena this Sunday, April 27. Students who have already purchased tickets for NLE Choppa will still be valid for the upcoming concert. If you missed the initial sale, there are still tickets available gobobcats.evenue.net.
