Clowning season is back in full-swing and One Direction stans are once again praying for a 1D Reunion.
Fans of One Direction are freaking out after Zayn Malik’s recent comments about the ex-band. Just last week, Zayn opened up about what things were really like between him and the other guys from the band One Direction when they were put together on “The X Factor,” during his appearance on “The Zach Sang Show.”
Zayn said, “We resented each other to a certain degree because we were solo artists that were put in a band, and we should have never felt that way. It should have never been a competition. It should have always been a camaraderie, and we should have always been there for each other and had each other’s backs. The one thing I always feel bad about when I look back over my life is not enjoying the band enough. I feel like I just took things too seriously.”
Hearing Zayn say this was kind of shocking, especially for those who have followed One Direction since the beginning (myself included). There have always been rumors about tension between the guys, but this was a very straightforward confession from Zayn. And in a surprising twist, there are sources saying that Zayn is actually open to the idea of a One Direction reunion.
According to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail, “[Zayn] is trying to figure out the best way to reach out because it will be odd, weird, and uncomfortable, but it is something that has been on his mind. Whether that leads them to working together again musically is one thing, but Zayn’s reasoning is to become friends with his mates that he did so much with.”
The source added, “Zayn wants to approach them for forgiveness and friendship. Working with them is not important to him right now. He has matured and wants to show the rest of the guys this. To be friends again would be amazing.”
As a long-time “directioner,” it’s kind of heartwarming to hear that Zayn is thinking about reconnecting with the rest of the band. There have been so many recent re-installments of things from our childhood, like the boy band Big Time Rush going on tour and the “iCarly” reboot. A One Direction Reunion would be such a full circle moment from eight-year-old Gena using her singing 1D toothbrush. For now, me and all the directioners out there will continue to hope things work out and they can find that camaraderie Zayn talked about!
