LA trio Wallows have announced that their anticipated third studio album, “Model,” is set for release on May 24 via Atlantic Records.
The news follows the band’s unexpected single drop; “Your Apartment”, which arrived last month. The single was marked with an official album trailer, which also teases their upcoming next track ‘Calling After Me’ (to be released on March 21).
On March 11, the indie-pop band announced tour dates in the United States and Europe for their upcoming “Model World Tour”, which includes stops at iconic venues like N.Y.C’s Madison Square Garden and L.A.’s Kia Forum.
Additionally, the trio accompanied the announcement with a dramatic 12-minute short film directed by Nina Ljeti and filmed at the Kia Forum, where they plan to close the U.S. run of their tour.
Joining the band on the road in the United States will be Benee, the pop star responsible for hits “Supalonely,” “Glitter,” and “Green Honda.”
Tickets for the shows went on sale to the general public on March 15 at 10 a.m. local time, while Wallows newsletter subscribers got first access to a presale starting on March 12 at 10 a.m.
Wallows was crucial in developing my middle school music taste, and I feel like I owe part of my identity to them. My wrinkled and worn “Nothing Happens” album cover pinned to the wall of my childhood bedroom has overseen me through my high school years and serves as a constant reminder that everything will work out in due time.
The group has been known to play at smaller venues in N.Y.C. such as Terminal 5 in the heart of Manhattan, and although they are sacrificing the intimacy and energy of a limited crowd, I’m hoping Madison Square Garden will provide the opportunity for more fans (such as myself) to experience the band performing live.
Good luck to everyone trying to get tickets!
