The voice of 2017 is back and better than ever. You may recognize the soulfully chill voice of Bryson Tiller that was taking over all of our radios six years ago. Well, that same voice blessed New Haven to bring back the carefree feeling that we missed all too well.
Bryson Tiller, the “T R A P S O U L” artist who stole the hearts of many young girls in 2017, delivered an innovative and timeless performance at College Street Music Hall during the final stretch of his year-long “Back and I’m Better Tour.” With a fully immersive experience that attracted an audience of diverse ages, this show truly is for everyone.
On Dec. 8th, Tiller used his electric energy to power up all of the burnt-out college students just in time for finals week. The moving background screen that displayed graphics of classic video games that anyone could recognize along with the vintage arcade machines on stage added nostalgia to set the scene for the concert.
Tiller protruded non-stop energy that elevated the songs and kept the audience excited. With songs coming one after the other for an hour, we got to hear some of our favorites including “Don’t”, “Exchange”, and “Could’ve Been” by H.E.R. featuring Tiller to name a few. We were also hit with some of his unreleased songs that got the fans hyped for his new album.
Every song was accompanied by the audience singing their hearts out with Tiller while each song transition was followed by the screaming excitement of everyone in the room. It was amazing seeing so many strangers have a blast together as we all revisited a time when life was easier; we all spent the evening in that bliss.
This was an experience that I would recommend for anyone who needs some time to transport back to their youth with a chill, electric night.
